Darling Hill’s Olympic Trials

July 2, 2008 by gymnastics011

It seems that Darling Hill is officially out of contention for the Olympic Team. She didn’t have that good of a performance at the Olympic Trials (not good enough for NBC to show her!), and as far as I know, she isn’t going to the selection camp, so Marta obviously wasn’t impressed by her after the Pacific Rim. That’s too bad for her, but I never considered her as a contender for the Olympic Team this year.

Alicia Sacramone’s Olympic Trials

July 2, 2008 by gymnastics011

Alicia Sacramone had yet another fantastic meet at the Olympic Trials, making many people wonder why she didn’t get a lock onto the Olympic team. She will continue onto the selection camp, and there she will make the team (unless she messes up or gets injured). Her floor on night two of the Olympic Trials was great, as usual, and she just landed short on her last pass by the smallest step. I wish she would have gotten a new floor routine for 2008, considering that this will be her fourth year having the same music, and similar tumbling! Does anybody else think that she should be trying different tumbling passes, and maybe putting her piked arabian double front back into her rouinte? That would be a great addition, and would certainly improve her chances of scoring a floor event final medal in Beijing. Maybe she is too busy on an Amanar, though. Let’s hope so!

Bridget Sloan’s Olympic Trials

July 2, 2008 by gymnastics011

A 2007 World team member was really put on the spot at the Olympic Trials, and that member being Bridget Sloan. First of all, she fell of the balance beam (did anybody get coverage of that? NBC didn’t show it where I live), and then she had two out of bounds and a scary landing on her piked full in that made her fly almost two feet back and touch her hands. It seems that Bridget Sloan isn’t on the Olympic Team, unless Marta is more stupid than we thought!

Uneven Bars Showdown

June 10, 2008 by gymnastics011

If you hvae been following international women’s gymnastics, you know that you have been anticipating the uneven bars finals of the 2008 Olympics. All the greats in the world will come to this bars final, and all of them are potential winners. Tweddle, Liukin, Kexin, Semenova, and others will all be there, if they qualify, and three of them aren’t getting medals, and seven of them aren’t getting the gold. The anticipation is building!!

He Kexin’s Olympics

June 9, 2008 by gymnastics011

Will He Kexin be allowed to compete in the Beijing Olympics? There is no doubt that china will want to put her on their team for uneven bars, but will the Olympic committee believe her age? Her age has been changed so many times, that I don’t know if any but her (or even her) knows how old she is! Will the fate of her Olympics be on a birth certificate, that nobody can believe? I guess that the Olympic committee will have to decide her real age.

Shawn Johnson’s New Floor

June 9, 2008 by gymnastics011

As you might know, if you watched the 2008 Visa Nationals finals (or prelims), that Shawn Johnson has a new floor routine. Wow, do I like her more in the past!! Her floor music is very weird(and not a good weird), and the choreography is just horrible! All she does is just arm movements, basically! She said in an interview that she wasn’t going to be all happy and cheery music anymore, but this floor routine is just weird!! The only good thing that she does in her routine is actually taking something out: she took out the double pike at the end of her routine and put in her full in. But even her full in is pretty bad, to me!

Olympic Team Members: Who is really able??

June 9, 2008 by gymnastics011

There are many great gymnasts heading to the Olympic Trials, but only a few have the ability to make the team, unless there is a major mistake from some of the top athletes. The real gymnasts that would be able to make the team:

Johnson, Memmel, Sacramone, Liukin, Peszek, Sloan, Randy (what is her last name again?), and maybe Worley and Hong, depending on their performances at Trials.

Who will make the Olympic team?? The tension is building!

Shayla Worley

June 8, 2008 by gymnastics011

Shayla Worley is still having back problems, according to NBC’s coverage of 2008 Nationals. Her coach is giong to petition her to the Olympic Trials. Personally, I don’t think that she will make the Olympic team, unless she is spectacular at trials, especially after her performance at the American Cup ( a complete scam, but it shows were the gymnasts are in their gymnastics). Maybe Shayla will surprise us, though, and give us a great performance?? Who knows!
